“Hiking in the mountains, visiting
the shore, or biking on trails gives me inspiration.
Sometimes I’ll see certain atmospheric conditions or
view the way light falls on a scene, and I want to
capture that in a painting.”
Kathy Marin Collins grew up in the Pacific Northwest and
expresses her appreciation of the area’s natural beauty
through her impressionistic paintings. She uses a rapid
process technique for painting dramatic high contrast
watercolors. By charging in color and mixing flowing wet
paint right on the paper, Kathy achieves intense dark
values while preserving white spaces.
Kathy’s award-winning paintings have been juried into
shows nationwide, including the Montana, Pennsylvania,
Central Coast, and Northwest Watercolor Societies’
annual exhibitions. Her work hangs in corporate and
private collections throughout the United States and has
been featured in Watercolor Magic Magazine, The Artist’s
Magazine, and will appear in the upcoming Splash 10, a
North Light publication.
She is a Signature Member of the Northwest Watercolor
Society, serves on the Board of Women Painters of
Washington, and shows her work in four Seattle area
galleries.
