Lynn GeibMedium: Pastels
My love of drawing led me to pastels, a direct and expressive medium. Pastels are ground pigments mixed with a binder and formed into sticks. I like grasping the sticks and applying the color straight on to the paper; there is a great feeling of connection with my art. I use paper with sanded surfaces designed to hold the pastel. Pastels allow me to work quickly with a rich variety of hues and values. I enjoy painting landscapes and still lifes. The shapes, textures, colors, lighting and atmosphere of my subjects pull me in and challenge me to explore their forms and moods in my paintings. I am inspired by the natural world and all its wonders.
