Art has been a passion of mine for years. I studied art history in college and graduate school receiving both a BA and MA in that field, but was also never too far from the art studio. I’ve worked in several different mediums, but concentrate now on oil painting and low fire ceramics. I enjoy the process whether layering paint onto a two dimensional canvas or working out ideas in three dimensions while sculpting in clay. My ceramics are hand built and primarily decorative, although I love creating pieces with just a hint of functionality to them. My art is influenced by many sources, but my inspiration comes from nature. Movement, organic shapes, color and texture prevail in both my paintings and sculptures. Narrative is also an important element for me and therefore, I title most of my work, hoping to give life to a story.
