KAST visitors will find
the Kirkland Arts Center (KAC) an exciting stop on their
tour. Since 1962 Kirkland Arts Center has been an
integral part of the Kirkland arts scene. Housed in a
landmark 1891 building, Kirkland Arts Center (KAC) has
been home, for more than 45 years, to innovative visual
art programming, including a non-profit gallery,
Resident Ceramic Arts program, and art classes serving
all ages.
KAC is a great place to see the creative process as it
applies to the medium of Ceramics. On exhibit and for
sale, in the Resident Artist’s Studio, you will see and
enjoy the work of six artists and a variety of
techniques and styles. This includes sculpture,
functional dinnerware, garden ceramics and whimsical
creatures. Our demonstrators will give you a chance to
see, in action, the process of throwing on the pottery
wheel. The artists’ represented will be Resident Ceramic
Artists, Barbara Hennig, Elaine Moore, Darlene Olds, and
Betsy Smith and two of our ceramic instructors, Aaron
Murray and Pat Colyar.
Saturday, also celebrate art with a full day of free art
projects for the whole family. The fun starts at 10:30
am on the third floor in the skylight room with Mother’s
Day projects for all ages. At 1:00 pm join us behind the
Arts Center by the kiln shed with a Raku event.
For a $5 donation you
glaze and then watch one of our experts fire your one of
a kind object to take home the same day.
The art gallery will be open both days and will be
featuring an exhibit titled Heads (dis) Embodied.
