Satomi Pellerin was born and raised in Japan, where she studied music and majored in composition. Satomi moved to Washington State in 1988, where she taught piano while also exploring Japanese traditional sumi painting, photography, and gardening. She has lived in Kirkland since 1999, and has been a ceramic artist since 2002. Satomi uses high-fire glazes and alternative firings on bowls, vases and plates to create a unique, organic appearance.
