Working and manipulating clay, on and off the wheel is where I begin my pieces. The direct feel of the clay and its responsiveness to my efforts provides the framework from which I build out a piece. My work ranges from simple functional tableware to more abstract non-functional pieces. Decorating the surface, I work with a broad color range, using both low fire underglazes and the colorful high fire glazes. I enjoy the combination of a simple repeated design with layering to create complexity and depth.
