Watercolorist Lolita Kaloustian -Young has been legally blind since adolescence. Although her sight may be impaired, she has great “vision”. Lolita paints with a spontaneity, boldness and passion characteristic of her approach to a life that has accepted few limits.

Lolita’s favorite subject is landscapes, great broad sweeps with distant horizons. She lived for several years in Scotland, Hawaii and Mexico. The rich colors, brooding mountain ranges and the immense lowlands of each continue to inspire and influence her painting. Lolita currently lives in the Pacific Northwest.

Lolita’s work has been part of several exhibitions and competitions. Juried Shows include NWWS Waterworks 2006, Kaewyn Gallery; International Miniature Art Exhibit, Parklane Gallery; and the Twelfth Naval District Art Competition.

Lolita is a member of the Eastside Association of Fine Arts (EAFA) and the Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) and served on 2007 NWWS Committee “Pigments on Parade”. Lolita attended Fleischer Art Memorial, Philadelphia Museum School of Art, The Cornish School of Fine Arts and UCLA and continues to develop her skill through workshops, classes and interaction with other artists.

Lolita has raised three sons; traveled widely; pursued multiple creative endeavors - including creative writing and art - while managing a successful career in the field of Design and Project Management. She retired from UCLA in 1993. A World Champion (WABDL Bench-press), Lolita continues to train, loves to hike and is an avid passenger on her husband’s Ducati.
